This is what happens if you are a married person with no children
and die intestate
in Scotland.
Around 68% of the UK population do not have a Will...
The surviving spouse inherits:
The first £300,000 of the estate plus plenishings up to £24,000
plus a further £75,000.
- The remainder passes to the deceased's parents split with brothers
and sisters (if no parents, just brothers/sisters)
- if none, to spouse
- if none, to aunts and uncles
- then Grandparents, or their brothers/sisters.
If there are no traceable blood relatives the balance goes to the
Crown.
